Nicolas Cage: Out of The Green Hornet

Perhaps we'll see The Green Hornet now.

According to Variety, Nicolas Cage is no longer attached to the role of the main villain in this upcoming comic book adaption.

No official word on the reason a deal fell through, but sources say the studio and the actor simply could not agree on terms; Columbia Pictures is now scrambling for a replacement.

The Green Hornet started shooting in Los Angeles this month; no scenes have been shot that contained Cage's character. Seth Rogen, Cameron Diaz and Jay Chou star in the movie, which comes out in December 2010.

As previously reported, Sylvestor Stallone is planning a fifth installment in the Rambo franchise.

Today, the Internet is buzzing with what appears to be the official plot synopsis for the film, which is likely to be titled Rambo 5: The Savage Hunt. It will be based on "Hunter," a novel by James Byron Huggins that Stallone owns the rights to.

This is the official description for the action flick:

John Rambo could track anyone - or anything - on earth. Now the military desperately needs him for a mission that his ultrasensitive instincts tell him he should refuse. A beast is loose somewhere north of the Artic Circle.

Rambo in Action!

It has already decimated a secret research facility and annihilated a squad of elite military guards. And the raging creature is headed south toward civilization, ready to wreak bloody devastation.

It's a job that Rambo and his 22-year-old hunting partner, Beau Brady, can't turn down, but they and a team of highly-skilled special forces kill team discover that the prey is a terror beyond their wildest imagination - a half-human abomination created by a renegade agency through a series of outlawed genetic experiments.

It has man's cunning, a predator's savageness, and a prehistoric power that has transcended the ages. And even if Rambo and Beau survive its unrelenting hunger for human blood, they'll still have to contront the grim reality that it may have grown immortal.

Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps Release Date, Cameo News

As the cast for Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps continues to grow, 20th Century Fox has announced a release date for this sequel:

It will hit theaters on April 23, 2010.

As for the plot of the follow-up film, director Oliver Stone told The New York Times that it will once again focus on Michael Douglas' Gordon Gekko, though he's a somewhat changed man from the original movie.

"When Gekko comes out of prison in the beginning of this movie, he essentially has to redefine himself, redefine his character," Stone said. "He's looking for that second chance."

Gordon Gekko Photo

Stone also confirmed that Charlie Sheen - who played the key role of Bud Fox in Wall Street - will make a cameo in the sequel.

"We sort of started over with the story of a young man who is at the center of it, and how he needs Gordon Gekko's help to navigate those waters," said Alex Young, co-president of production at 20th Century Fox.

That young man will be played by Shia LaBeouf, whose character of Jake Moore is a young trader that's engaged to Gekko's daughter, played by Carey Mulligan.

New Moon Update: Poster, Still Shot Revealed

With under three months remaining until the premiere of New Moon, the publicity machine is going strong.

Earlier today, a pair of new photos related to the movie were released.

The first was actually created by a memorabilia fir, not Summit Entertainment. Still it has the two important ingredients of any New Moon picture: Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. See for yourself:

Jamie Chung: Fighting and Singing in Sucker Punch

Jamie Chung is one of a number of beauties signed on for Zack Snyder's Sucker Punch.

In a recent interview with E! News, the actress spoke on the training she's been undergoing for the shoot, courtesy of... Navy SEALs?!?

"We have Navy SEALs doing physical training, and then we have stunt and fight choreographers from Watchman and 300," said Chung, who will play Amber in the action-packed fantasy movie. "It's going to be awesome."

But forget fighting. Chung added that she's most scared about a different aspect of the film: singing.

The actress and costars Vanessa Hudgens, Abbie Cornish, Emily Browning, Carla Gugino and Oscar Isaac have already begun recording tracks for the movie, which sounds like a combination of a number of genres.

"I have to say that's the most terrifying part, because I don't sing," she said. "I'm working on it, but just because I'm Korean doesn't mean I karaoke."

Big Momma's House 3: Confirmed!

The rumor is, sadly, a reality:

Big Momma’s House 3 is coming to a theater near you.

As confirmed by Variety, Fox is preparing yet another installment of the Big Momma franchise, as Randi Mayem Singer is on board to write the film's second sequel.

The movie publication states the plot for Big Momma’s House 3 is being kept silent for now... because the world is just dying to know! The original Martin Lawrence flick was released in 2000.

Sex and the City Sequel: Back to the 80s!

We still have no idea what the Sex and the City sequel will be about.

Sarah Jessica Parker and company refuse to disclose any spoilers about the follow-up film, which will be released in May 2010.

But, based on the following shot of Parker filming a scene for the movie, it's clear that fans will see a flashback to Carrie Bradshaw in the 1980s. How do we know?

In modern times, we somehow doubt this character would be caught dead in the hairstyle below:

Movie Rumor of the Day: A Blair Witch Sequel

It's been a decade since movie goers were haunted by The Blair Witch Project.

But it's never too late to resurrect a franchise, apparently, as director Eduardo Sanchez says that he and partner Daniel Myrick are prepared to pitch a new version of the iconic movie to the studio.

The Blair Witch Project

"Our original idea for Blair Witch was to go through all of the periods of the mythology... and make a movie about them," said Sanchez. "And we wanted to start at the beginning and do the story of Elly Kedward, the original [person]... The Blair Witch is named after her."

No other details were revealed, but Sanchez did say the another installment would be a prequel to the original story.

And... action!

Filming is underway on the highly-anticipated Sex and the City sequel, as NYC resident were treated to the sight of Sarah Jessica Parker filming scenes for the film this week.

Cameras rolled on the actress yesterday, as she shot several takes of a scene in which she leaves the apartment building she and Big bought and sold in the first installment.

An onlooker told Us Weekly: "She comes out as Carrie Bradshaw, puts on her sunglasses, looks around and starts walking. She looks pretty happy to be back at work."

It's a good bet that the second movie will focus on Carrie and Big's plans for children, not that the star will reveal any hints about the flick.

"In a million years I'm not going to give you an indication," Parker said. "I want someone to show up that first weekend."

The Sex and the City movie sequel will be released on May 28, 2010.

Halloween 3D: Coming Next Summer

Halloween II (which was really the ninth installment in this franchise) wasn't even the top-grossing new horror movie this weekend.

Still, The Los Angeles Times reports that The Weinstein Company is moving forward with Halloween 3D, yet another sequel in this played out franchise.

Michael Myers

Writer/directorRob Zombie won't return for the follow-up film, as the studio is in negotiations with a new director, one with "different take" on the movies, according to Harvey Weinstein.

Halloween II opened in third place this weekend with an estimated $17.4 million.

Judd Apatow Hints at Plan for Anchorman Sequel

First, the good news: Judd Apatow says an Anchorman sequel is looking even more likely now than it was a year ago.

Now, the really good news: the writer/producer/director has offered an idea for the follow-up comedy, one we're fully behind.

In an interview with Empire, Apatow hinted that he and Will Ferrell may set the film in the present, making Ron Burgundy and company senior citizens.

“The great thing is, Will can be any age and play that character," Apatow said. "Those anchormen sometimes have their jobs until they’re 75 years old. So we would always laugh that this movie could work if everybody’s really elderly.”

The New Team!

The concept makes sense: Remember, Anchormen ended with an epilogue that forecasted the immediate future of various characters (Brick went off to serve as a top advisor to George W. Bush, for example).

Therefore, a sequel would almost have to be based many years down the line. We can't wait!

Oscar Isaac Joins Cast of Sucker Punch

Most recently seen in Body of Lies, and set for the role of Prince John in Robin Hood, Oscar Isaac has joined the cast of Sucker Punch.

The Zack Snyder-directed thriller focuses on a girl who's institutionalized by her stepfather and proceeds to retreat into an alternative reality. Emily Browning plays the main character.

The rest of the eclectic cast is filled by Carla Gugino, Vanessa Hudgens, Jamie Chung, Jena Malone, Scott Glenn and Abbie Cornish.

New Moon Promotional Pics: The Volturi

You've seen a few action shots from New Moon, such as the still image of Jacob Black topless in the film.

Now, the studio has released a number of promotional photos that focus on characters other than Jacob, Bella and Edward for a change.

Pictured below are members of the Volturi, the powerful coven of vampires that enforce the rules of their unique world. The actress receiving the most buzz for her role of Jane is Dakota Fanning, who is very much playing against type in New Moon.

"She is very strange and very spooky in this movie," said director Chris Weitz. "I think [Dakota] wanted to play an evil character for once."

Neil Blompkamp Fuels Distrct 9 Sequel Rumors

When a studio wants a sequel to a hit movie, there will be a sequel to said movie.

With that in mind, as director Neil Blompkamp confirms, there's no doubt that a follow-up to District 9 will be made.

"I've got an inclination of an idea, but it's so not fleshed out yet," he said. "There's nothing official yet, other than the studio saying they want one - it's just the case of what the hell it is!

"It could go a lot of different ways, like what happens to Wikus? How do you wrap that character up? Does he become human again? I'd have to really think about how it goes."

District 9 Movie Poster

Could the film be a prequel? Possibly, but it's unlikely, the director said.

"The only reason to do a prequel is because I find Wikus such a hilarious character... that I feel like I want to see more of him... if you take him at the beginning of this film, he's a more interesting character to me, so I'd like to see two hours of him being that character, but that's the only reason to go backwards."

Blake Lively Goes to The Town

Already starring Jon Hamm and Ben Affleck, it didn't seem possible for the cast of The Town to grow more attractive.

But it has!

Blake Lively (best known as Serena Van der Woodsen on Gossip Girl) has joined the ensemble cast of the crime thriller.

Blake Lively

Chris Cooper is also in negotiations to appear in the film, which follows a bank manager; the thief who stole her heart (and more!); and the FBI agent attempting to bust the crook and his crew.

Magazine Scan Reveals New Look at the Volturi

We don't wanna act as a shill for People magazine, but New Moon fans would be well-served to pick up a copy of the September 7 issue.

The publication's next issue will feature exclusive new photos of the Volturi, such as the shot below of Dakota Fanning in the role of Jane.

New Moon Scan

There's also a smaller shot of Demetri clenching Alice’s throat; along with a pic of Aro, Caius and Alec in the throne room.

In the article, New Moon director Chris Weitz says:

"I think they’re magnificently scary and at the same time very elegant, so that’s how I wanted to portray them onscreen. I wanted to steer clear of any clichés-Dracula’s castle sort of stuff. When you see their lair, it’s actually quite classically beautiful."

Susan Sarandon Rumored for Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps

Another big name might join Oliver Stone's sequel to Wall Street.

Rumors are swirling that Susan Sarandon is in negotiations to play the mother to Shia LaBeouf’s character, Jacob, in Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps.

If cast, Sarandon would be reunited with Carey Mulligan, with whom she co-starred in the Sundance film The Greatest. Frank Langella has signed on for a part, while Josh Brolin is considering a role.

Filming for the sequel will begin this fall in New York.
